Prison officer and foster dad to 40 told story

ColinSandersonWeb2010: Colin Sanderson, a former prison officer who was also a foster dad to 40 children, told his unusual story at a city-centre lunch-hour meeting in Norwich on Thursday, May 13.

“My wife, Sheila and I always wanted a big family,” says Colin, who has also served the community in many other ways.

Once, Colin was seriously ill in hospital with heart and back problems, and some feared he “wouldn’t make it.” But as a Christian, he also wanted to live and serve God. He asked for a Bible and his eyes fell upon a verse that said: “Fear not . . . I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1). "I knew God was speaking to me," he says.

Colin went on to achieve his goal, serving for seven years in prison chaplaincy work and also running Alpha course for prisoners in Norwich. He and Sheila are also active members of Norwich Family Life Church.

MaidsHeadColin’s informal 25-minute talk is one of a regular series of inspirational monthly lunchtime events organised by the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship at the Maid’s Head Hotel, Tombland, NR3 1LB starting at 1pm and ending at 2pm prompt.

These events are planned largely for people who work in the city and are designed to fit into a standard lunch hour with a half-hour meal, followed by a talk.

The cost is £6 (with free parking at the back of the hotel). To reserve your place, contact Robert Ross on 01603 631 050 (office number) or email robert@positive.selection.com or mwiltshire4@aol.com
