High profile speakers to visit Sheringham church

2017: Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham has announced its programme of worship evenings with nationally recognised speakers, to take place on selected Sundays this summer and autumn. Tony Rothe reports.

Collectively known as Stir 17, these evenings are open to everyone, but aimed particularly at encouraging and inspiring Christians from churches in North Norfolk and across the county.

Helen Roberts, pictured above, will be the speaker on Sunday June 4. Helen oversees the senior leadership team at Wellspring Church in Watford, encouraging staff in their roles to mobilise scores of volunteers engaged in their many life-changing ministries. Helen is an inspiring communicator who loves to help people step into greater freedom as followers of Christ. She is married to Tim Roberts and they have three children.

Debra Green 600CFDebra Green OBE, right, will be speaking on Sunday July 2. Debra is the national director and founder of Redeeming Our Communities (ROC), founded in 2004. She has twenty years of experience in bringing organisations together towards the goal of social transformation, starting with her home city of Manchester. Since 2003, this work has expanded and she has acted as a consultant to many other towns and cities with significant results. She has also had three books published.

Debra will also be speaking, along with Clive Calver from Evangelical Alliance, at Game Changers, the ROCYourWorld conference taking place in Manchester on June 9 and 10. Visit https://roc.uk.com

Ian Savory, senior pastor at Lighthouse Community Church, said “With these Stir 17 events, we will be hearing other Christians tell their story and sharing their perspective on what God is doing in our day and in their area of influence. We are asking God to build faith among us for what He can do in North Norfolk and beyond.”

The speaker on September 3 will be Ross Paterson, with Dave Bell and The Moment band on October 8.

The Stir 17 evenings start at 7pm, with coffee from 6.30pm. The venue is Lighthouse, 62 Cromer Road, Sheringham.
