Treasure hunt to help to make heavenly gardens 

The Norwich Rotary Club in Blackfriars is organising a walking treasure hunt around gardens in the city to raise funds for the Heavenly Gardens Project.

The event will take place on Sunday August 1, starting and finishing at the Plantation Garden, which is pictured above (www.plantationgarden.co.uk). This is on Earlham Road, next to the Cathedral of St John the Baptist.
 
Departures are at 12 noon and 2pm. The time required is less than one and half hours, and the event is very suitable for children. Please bring a pencil, something to lean on, and blankets or chairs if you would like to sit and enjoy a drink. From 2pm to 4pm there will be music and teas in the gardens. 
 
Tickets are £10 per team and there is a limit of 50 teams. Entrance to the gardens is free to adults with a questionnaire, which is £2. Regrettably, no dogs, smoking or vaping is allowed in the gardens.
 
Heavenly Gardens is a project to take care of the gardens of 18 of the 32 surviving mediaeval churches in Norwich. The city has the biggest group of medieval churches in a city of northern Europe (www.heavenlygardens.org.uk).
 
The churchyards have been pesticide and fertiliser free for many years and are able to support a variety of unusual plants and insects, thereby improving the beauty and biodiversity of Norwich.
 
Volunteers look after many of these churchyards and it is proposed to expand this activity so that a range of improvements can be made to the churchyards, which make up nearly half of the green space in the city centre.
