Christian bikers are active again across Norfolk

The Norfolk branch of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) has been active across Norfolk this summer, including an appearance at Celebrate King’s Lynn on July 23, reports Branch Secretary Graham Alford.

CMALogo230The CMA was started by a group of bikers in the Unites States, who could see at the various motorcycle gatherings, people who were lost and just drifted from one place to another with no purpose in life.

They had the vision to talk to them and give purpose in their lives by introducing the spirit and love of Jesus and give them the fuel to ride into the light.

The CMA now exists in 30 countries around the world with 28 UK branches in the UK, including one in Norfolk, and we all wear the distinctive white cross on our backs.

The Norfolk branch are mainly based in and around Norwich. Look out for the white cross when riding or look us up on most Friday evenings at the Bike Meet at “Reepham and Whitwell Station”. Occasionally at Two Wheel Tuesday or other meets around the county.

We try and join various organised ride outs. Most recent was “Falklands Memorial Ride” last June with nearly 1000 bikes taking part. Carol singing takes place on the Bike Park opposite city Hall in December and we will be at Horsford Parish Church on Sunday August 28, taking an active part in the service with the blessing of bikes in the churchyard followed by a family picnic. The service starts at 10.30am give us a look!

The CMA mission statement is:  “To spread the word of the Gospel, predominately, but not exclusively, to the motorcycling community.” To assist us in this, in June 2007, in partnership with the Bible Society, a pocked-sized Biker Bible was produced. At its launch at the Isle of Man TT, 393 Bibles were taken in one day alone. Since then over 100,000 Bibles have been given away (they are never sold) with a further 10,000 amongst the branches or in storage. This is our major weapon when trying to reach those who are searching.

The CMA attends Bike Shows, bike rallies, large and small, have a presence at local bike meets where we can, and at the large rallies’ Holy Joe’s café, 24-hour tea, coffee and biscuits. But more than anything you will find on offer a warm friendly welcome, some one willing to talk about bikes or anything else, or just a listening ear and of course willing to pray with of for all those who have a need.

For more information please visit our website www.bike.org.uk where much more information can be found, including contact details.

There is also a CMA Norfolk facebook page, or if you would prefer more personal contact please e-mail the secretary at secretary.norfolk@bike.org.uk and we would be happy to talk further.
