Norfolk singer to host one-day music festival

The daughter of a Norwich church minister has launched an intimate one-day music festival at Thorington Theatre in Suffolk.

Alexandra Hutton, daughter of Rev Matthew Hutton, grew up in Norfolk and has settled back in the county after a time in London and California. She is a singer (alex kate) and runs a small record label called Pax Records.

Alexandra said: “The label seeks to provide a platform for artists without holding them back with constraining contracts as I believe the best creativity comes out of freedom. Pax was born after I was offered a deal two and a half years ago, which went against my morals as a Christian, so although it was a large financial figure and a tempting offer, I walked away.”

When not on tour Alexandra attends Soul Church in Norwich and recently performed at Norwich Arts club to a packed-out audience.  On July 8 she will be hosting a one-day intimate festival in an amphitheatre in the woods of North East Suffolk at the outdoors Thorington Theatre. On the bill are Pax Records artists and friends, including Alexandra.

Alexandra said: “Headliner is Roo Panes, an artist whose Christian faith also inspires his lyrics. He will be fresh from two sold-out shows at Union Chapel in London. A few others on the bill share a similar faith but are not overt about it as they want their listeners to connect however they want to, to their music.

“Expect a day of high quality music drifting over you in such an intimate and magical setting. Why not try your hand at life drawing models in circus costumes or learning more about wine from tiktok sensation Luke Flunders.”
