Dereham CAP 750AT
Dereham church offers free money advice course

Dereham Baptist Church is offering anyone a place on their free Christians Against Poverty Money course this October, in a bid to help people budget as energy bills soar.

The national debt help charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is offering people in the Dereham area access to their Money course in bid to keep low income families afloat during the winter months in the face of continuing high energy prices.

Morgan Cockbill, CAP’s Money course leader in Dereham, says “Many local families living on a low income are already in a financial crisis due to widespread rising costs. The October energy price rise, combined with all the other price increases, will result in debt, destitution and desperation for thousands of local people this winter.

“That’s one of the reasons we’re launching CAP’s Money course this October. It’s a friendly short course designed to help people create workable budgets, helping you see exactly what you are spending, how you could save money and prioritise your spending to include the things you really need or want to do.

“People are facing unparalleled financial challenges right now. Getting our money under control, preparing a budget, and having a clear picture of what’s coming in and going out is the first essential step to navigating our way through the next few months and possibly years.”

An attendee of a previous course says:
"Worried about your finances, or maybe really don’t know the full picture of your finances? Do you struggle to budget and stick to a budget? Do you have debts, but you really don’t know the size of the problem? Even if you’re confident you have all under control this course could help you understand more about your finances and it’s free!"

CAP’s Money course will launch on Thursday 5 October, 9.30am to 11:30am at Dereham Baptist Church,  NR19 1BX. Please book your place by phoning 01362 695221, or e-mail: catherineweatherill@capuk.org

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a UK charity working with over 800 affiliated churches to deliver debt help, budgeting guidance, support to find work, life skills groups and more. Visit capuk.org to find out more.
