Yarmouth chaplain receives New Year Honour

Reverend Albert Cadmore has received the British Empire Medal for services to the community in Great Yarmouth in the New Year's Honours List.

Reverend Albert Cadmore’s contributions to the local area have not only included 47 years of teaching, plus serving as a parish priest in Horsey and West Somerton, but also many chaplaincy roles such as acting as chaplain to Norwich City Football club and his ongoing role as chaplain for the RNLI. Albert also hosts a weekly show on local Harbour Radio, chatting to local people about community life.

Albert was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s 2024 New Year’s Honours list. The award is given for “hands-on” service to the community in a particular geographical area. Quoted in the Eastern Daily Press, Rev Cadmore said of the honour: "I was very surprised to hear the news. I feel humbled that people in the community had nominated me, and I thank all those who played a part. I love our community, and I love serving it in the ways that I do."

Jon Norman, Senior Pastor at Soul Church Norwich and Chaplain at Norwich City Football Club said of Albert when he stepped down from chaplaincy of the city football club after 16 years: “Bert is a true gentleman full of integrity and honour and is dearly loved.”
