Aliens win Christian radio award for city duo

EmmaPhilpottsAn out of this world thought for the day radio ad produced by 25-year-old Emma Philpotts (pictured right) from Radio Norwich, has won a prize in a national radio awards competition.

Written by Norwich clergyman Rev Nicholas Vesey (pictured below), Aliens, won Emma the Best Contribution from a Producer under 25 title and a £1000 prize. The award was announced at an event on October 11 at the RSA in London.

The two-minute slot was written by Nicholas and produced by Christian producer Emma Philpotts from 99.9 Radio Norwich.

NickVeseyEmma said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It was an honour just to be nominated, and to beat off such tough competition was amazing. I am very proud to have won and am thankful that I had the opportunity to enter in the first place. Now I have to find somewhere to put the award!”

Nicholas said: “I was delighted that Emma won for the project. She has shown real courage and determination in being true to herself and her career, and is a complete professional as a result. We would never have made the piece without her ability to get it on the air."

The Aliens piece was also a finalist in the “Shorts” category of the awards.

The Jerusalem Radio Awards are to reward Christian programming on non Christian stations.
